Ancient and Medieval Studies Major at Empire State College, 3.22 GPA, 2015. I enjoy learning about Ancient and Medieval History, specifically, because I like seeing how these time periods have influenced the world today. I used to think that the Roman and Byzantine Empires were the be-all and end-all of ultimate power in the world, but recent reading has shown me that this is not the case, as the Ottoman Empire, smashed through the Byzantine Empire, taking its capital, Constantinople, in 1453: recently I've become more open-minded as I realize that the Byzantines' secular power was simply no match, militarily, eventually, for the Muslim-driven Ottomans.
Experience
I would like to be a tutor because I'd like to share my knowledge to someone at the undergraduate level better understand how the Ancient and Medieval worlds have shaped today's world. Relevant classes I've taken are Ancient Near East, Republic and Empire of Rome, Ancient Greece and Egypt, Renaissance and Reformation, Early Medieval Europe, Late Medieval Europe, Food and Drink in Medieval Europe, Medieval and Renaissance Italy, and Early Russia.
