As a member of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy, I won a Research and Travel Award in Grand Strategy and a Richter Summer Fellowship to conduct research in the United Kingdom. I won a Creative and Performing Arts Award for letterpress printing from my residential college. As a sophomore I won the Van Sinderen Book Collecting Prize, and as a senior I was the undergraduate representative on the Van Sinderen Prize committee, and judged the book collecting and poster competition alongside the Yale University Printer and Director of the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
Experience
In New Haven I tutored chemistry, biology, and English at St. Martin de Porres Academy. I also taught letterpress printing classes at the Yale University Book Arts Center. Before starting medical school, I worked at the Knights of Columbus world headquarters in their rotational training program. I rotated through their legal, investments, and communications departments. My duties included: editing legal briefs and contracts, drafting best practice guidelines, writing news articles and blog posts for the Company’s websites, programming cash flow and stress scenario projection calculator templates for mortgage-backed securities, and writing credit analysis reports for purchased bonds.
