Education
Graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a B.A. in Spanish and a GPA of 3.52. Recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Master's in Spanish, GPA 3.72. During my tenure there I took one class exclusively on teaching methodologies and another class on Second Language Acquisition. These classes have helped me understand how students learn a second language and how best to teach them, and will be very beneficial in tutoring.
Experience
During my Master's at UF, I taught the following courses: Spanish 1131 (second semester beginner course), Spanish 1134 (accelerated beginner course) and Spanish 2200 (first semester intermediate level course). For the last ten months I lived in Madrid, Spain where I continued to improve my Spanish abilities and where I taught English classes to adults and high school students. This has given me even more experience in teaching. I have tutored three separate students over the course of the last year. I have my Bachelors in Spanish and I spent the last two years as a Teaching Assistant for the University of Florida. I am a member of the International Foreign Language Honor Society, Phi Sigma Iota, and the National Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi. I was also a Teaching Assistant three separate times during my undergraduate career. I want to tutor because Spanish is my passion and I want to help other people succeed in their Spanish language studies. I am also presently enrolled in a TESL class which will help me improve my teaching abilities.
