Experience
I have taught English as a foreign language (EFL) in China for two years, but am now teaching students worldwide in an online classroom as well as adjunct at Nazareth College, where I am finishing my graduate studies in TESOL. I have tutored adult students taking the TOEFL exam to gain admission to English-speaking universities. I also tutored beginning English students, whose native language was Spanish, in Chicago, IL while I was earning my ESL/TEFL certificate. I want to be a tutor because I acknowledge the growing importance of language in communication. I studied in Germany for my entire undergraduate program. Although all courses were taught in English, I did learn a bit of German and participated in a German Summer Academy as a scholar of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German National Academic Foundation). I also worked as an intercultural trainer and public relations assistant at my university since proficiency in several languages was necessary for networking with international clientele.
