ExperienceSeveral years of tutoring experience with students of all ages for the Physics AP exam and other Physics Courses.
My teaching methods aim to engage the student in what they are learning, in order to facilitate interest in the topic. Anyone who has taken physics knows that it can be very difficult at times to grasp the concepts.
My goal is to teach the concept so that one understands and finds interest in them, then go on to master the mathematics behind the physics. If I am interested in why something worked the way it did, I would also be interested in how it worked.
I have experience tutoring high school students with courses such as the Physics AP. Previously, I have developed study guides and study sessions for high school students that are preparing for their exams.
1-on-1 sessions are most common and prove to be most effective, nevertheless, I have done group study sessions for multiple students who are studying for the same exam.
Skype sessions are available by request and can present a discount for saving me on transportation. I have had several students who really enjoyed the Skype sessions, especially with weekly meetings. This also works well for those who are far away.
At Wells College, I worked as a Physics teaching assistant for 3 years where I helped students with homework questions, set up laboratory experiments and assisted students with conducting the labs, graded homework and lab reports, and was the president of the Society of Physics Students in 2010.
After Wells, I have tutored many students from RIT, UR, and MCC, as well as many high school students from around the greater Rochester area in Physics.
HobbiesMy hobbies include:
Recycling & Sustainable Activities; I work as a Recycling Specialist for RIT where we changed the recycling system to Single Stream. I am passionate about recycling because when I was at Wells I collected enough of my own bottles in a year, that I built a boat out of them and sailed it on Earth Day 2010.
I am writing a book "Waves of Life" which uses fundamental physics to explain how to achieve happiness and establish a personal meaning to life.
- You should ask me about my book! -
My goal in life is to answer any question that is presented to me. My book started when someone asked me what was the meaning of life.
Otherwise, I play piano, study several martial arts, enjoying fishing, bike rides, and pretty much any activity that simulates me mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Our daughter has met with Dmitri for multiple math and science subjects over the past 3 years while being home schooled and enrolled in public school. He has never failed to unlock the code to what had previously seemed inexplicable to our daughter. He was able to take a full year of high school physics and explain it in one two hour session. Dmitri is a very gifted teacher!
Dmirty was great at getting back to us right away to find a time/place to meet. He also asked for the AP physics course syllabus so he would know what to target at this point. We had a 2 hour session on the weekend which was helpful to my daughter. Our only difficulty is that we had to meet on the college campus which is at least a 25 minute drive for us one way. I would definitely recommend this tutor.
Outstanding! My son worked with Dmitry for approximately 6 months on Physics. He clearly explained the concepts, established a great rapport with my son, and worked to accommodate our schedule. I highly recommend him - Dmitry was the best!
Dimitri tutored me in physics for the AP Physics B class I was taking at my high school. He thoroughly explained all the concepts until he was sure I understood them, and he was also a super fun person to work with. I gained much more confidence in the subject after a few tutoring sessions with Dimitri, and he went into far more detail with each concept than my class did.
Dmitry helped me last year in Physics at RIT. He is an easy going guy and knows how to explain physics. He helped me understand better than my professor and prepared me for upcoming classes. It was also convenient to meet up because we both go to RIT!
